A mattress is a manufactured product to sleep or lie on, consisting of resilient materials and covered with an outer fabric or ticking. In the developed world it is typically part of a bed set and is placed upon a foundation.The derivation of the English word mattress is from the Arabic word "matrah" meaning "to throw down" or "place where something is thrown" or "mat, cushion." During the Crusades, Europeans adopted the Arabic method of sleeping on cushions thrown on the floor, and the word materas eventually descended into Middle English through the Romance languages.

Bed Mattresses

Beds are the primary things to decorate your bed room. Then come bed mattresses. Among three types of bed frames namely single, double and king size bed frame. Double bed frames are most suitable for middle class people with a reasonable income. Small double beds have become one of the must have beds by the teens of today. Not happy with the standard single bed many people are desperate to have a little more space and that\'s where the small double bed comes in. Kids love these beds very much. As for bed mattress there are no standard mattress depths. Some mattresses are 9-10 inches deep, but many pillow top mattresses measure 15-16 inches in depth, or even more.

When buying bed linen should I choose fitted sheets or flat sheets? A very popular question and the answer is not always the same as there are a lot of deciding factors associated with this question and a blanket answer is not always the best advice. Fitted sheets are the most common way of covering your mattress as they have mitered corners that fit neatly over and down the mattress and are finished off with fully elastic sides or corners to ensure a snug fit which look like a fitted glove over the bed. The elastic corners are preferred aesthetically as they allow the user to tuck them under the mattress making a neat appearance where the full elasticated version can look bunched up depending on the fabric used to weave the bed linen.

If you look online for cot bedding, you will discover that there are a lot of different options. Stores that cater to new parents with supplies for infants usually will have what you are looking for, and often at very reasonable prices. To find just the right cot bedding for your baby, there are some things to consider during the shopping process. Generally speaking, cot bedding tends to be quite soft. For infants, this could pose some danger. For babies who sleep on their tummies, the risk is even greater. Making sure that the bedding of a baby is comfortable, but not too soft, is of critical importance.
